NR Accounts
Designated for Corporate bodies, International organizations, foreign nationals, Non-Governmental organizations (NGOs), and staff members of foreign embassies. The non-resident accounts are denominated in foreign currency (FCY) and local currency (LCY) whose source of deposit shall be in FCY.
- Non-Resident Foreign currency account (NRFCY): a foreign currency account that is denominated in foreign currency.
- Non-Resident Transferable Birr account (NRT): the account is denominated in Birr but the account holder can draw foreign currency without foreign exchange approval.
- Non-Resident Non-Transferable Birr account (NRNT): the account is maintained in Birr and can only be operated in local currency unless foreign currency approval is obtained on the basis of supporting documents.
